Soldo was launched in 2015 with a vision of creating a payment transaction product that provided businesses process optimisation, linking business legacy IT systems at one end and card payments at the other. Soldo allows companies to control the flow of money by integrating their platform into the organisation across employees and departments. This enables allocation of spending budgets and the imposing rules on how funds can be spent, whilst processing payments in real time. They have had success across UK and Europe.
Soldo had closed a Series C funding round included Temesek, Battery Ventures, Dawn Advent International and Citi Ventures among others. Following on from previous successful placements by Erevena of a CFO, a Director Product Marketing and of a VP Small Business and Customer Marketing Lead, Soldo approached Erevena Growth to identify a Head of Commercial Marketing to design, build and deliver the core marketing strategy for all of Soldo’s offerings across all GTM approaches.
The role was to be responsible for extensive customer and market insight, connecting the needs of customers with Soldo’s proposition; the positioning of the offering in the market in different segments; an understanding of the problems Soldo address – and how they solve those problems for customers; the descriptions of different offerings that connect directly with the audiences they target – both new and existing customers; and the strategy for the company brand, how they represent the company to the broad market in relation to alternatives and the FinTech ecosystem.
The ideal candidate would have experience developing marketing strategy, preferably coming from an Enterprise SaaS role. As they would be working with the CEO, CMO, product management, and product marketers – as well as with external partners, they need to have a thorough understanding of the dynamics of market and of how the Soldo solution could be positioned. This would see them bringing a strategic mindset with the ability to collaborate with other around the company and draw these insights into a clear strategic vision.
Erevena conducted a thorough search of the market, engaging with some of the best product marketing leaders from across the industry. The team brought together a shortlist of five people with Brandon Till emerging as the favourite candidate. As one of Trustpilot’s early marketing hires (joining at Series B), followed by a spell at KAYAK and latterly Ocean.io, Erevena identified Brandon as a ‘rising star’, bringing a solid background working in B2B marketing across SMB, mid-market and enterprise business. Although a senior leader, Brandon remained hands-on with the creation of marketing material as well as taking a more strategic focus, making him an ideal candidate for this role.
