Founded in Frankfurt in 1992, Matrix42 provide digital workspace management software for medium and large-sized enterprises across Europe and North America. The company offers a centralized and automated platform that provides authenticated access to workspaces across aggregated physical, virtual and mobile environments and automates IT processes, license management and support functionalities, helping to improve the efficiency of an organization’s IT department.
In April 2021, Matrix42 were acquired by Corten Capital, a specialist Private Equity firm which invests in technology-driven B2B software, services and data businesses in Europe and North America. Matrix42 was Corten’s first acquisition and forms part of their first €512m fund investing in a focused portfolio of 2-3 platform companies.
Search Background
Having received investment from Corten Capital in 2021, the business was looking to implement a fundamental transformation in its technology and product strategy, creating a more mature technology organisation under the CTO.
As a central part of this, Matrix42 were looking to consolidate their product portfolio, and required a Head of Cloud Architecture to help drive their journey to a cloud native and multi-tenant one platform approach.
Requirements
The search centered around attracting an experienced Cloud Architect, who would lead the transformation of Matrix42’s SaaS offerings onto a comprehensive Azure SaaS platform. They would be responsible for setting the architecture vision and strategy for Matrix42 and would lead the organisation through cloud adoption, establishing best practices across the 200 strong Product & Technology team. The search focused on candidates who had a strong background in leading organisations through cloud adoption and experience in Microsoft Azure Cloud.

Erevena executed a pan-European search, and successfully secured Pedro Leitao, formerly Chief Architect at the world’s leading provider of strategic market research reporting, Euromonitor. Pedro brings deep knowledge of cloud architecture and development, accrued during a twenty year career spent in a multitude of different environments including Microsoft, DocuSign and Intuit.
