Chronomics is a forward-thinking tech bio company that is building the bio-infrastructure to power the use of biomarkers in everyday life, thus improving outcomes across industries and societies and “making the unseen actionable.’’ The business is at the dawn of a ‘bio-revolution’ that will fundamentally and positively transform societies, economies and our lives over the coming century.
Chronomics’ dynamic platform has reduced the cost, time and complexity of utilising bioscience by several orders of magnitude. The business has subsequently become a trusted partner of some of the world’s leading organisations, spanning industries as diverse as healthcare, wellness, nutrition, retail, travel, beauty, fertility and pet.
Following a successful Seed Round led by Anthemis Ventures and the generation of double-digit revenue figures, Chronomics was looking to further build out its leadership in engineering. More specifically, the team at Chronomics were growing their engineering team rapidly to further develop their tech-first platform; from sampling through a range of collection methods, to data analytics and results playback.
Given Chronomics’ ambitious growth targets, the team sought a VP of Engineering to report into the CEO and operate as a peer to the CTO as the business navigates the next phase of its journey. One of the main areas of focus was to build and scale the engineering team from 10 to over 100, and the incoming VP of Engineering needed to possess the flexibility to deep-dive with the existing team to build credibility from a technical standpoint, as well as setting up the structures and processes for scale.
Erevena found and placed Luis Andani, who was a Senior Director of Engineering responsible for the Consumer Tribes at HelloFresh, having grown a team of 20 engineers to 120 across multiple locations. In this role, he led the development of a platform focusing on price-related experimentation and another experimentation platform that would tailor recipe recommendations to customer preferences. His additional experience of having optimized supply chain operations at HelloFresh meant Luis was the perfect fit for Chronomics due to the combination of technical relevance, experience in D2C businesses with a strong logistical component and scaling knowledge.
We chose to partner with Erevena, having worked with them successfully in the past. In addition, we were incredibly impressed by their tech search team and the level of substance and understanding that they brought to bear in our initial conversations with them. Throughout the process the Erevena team engaged really exceptional candidates, that fit our culture and our philosophy as a remote company. Ultimately, through this process we met Luis Andani and made the decision to welcome him into the Chronomics fold.
What a decision! Luis Andani, is an incredible human. He is a rare combination of humble and inspirational, someone who builds trust easily, has deep technical knowledge and gets the best out of everyone that works with him.
I would highly recommend Erevena for anyone in the market for tech leadership.
