Search Background
In 2021, the private equity firm Trilantic made a capital investment into WebFX. The capital partnership between WebFX and Trilantic assists future growth for the Pennsylvania-based company, supporting expansion in talent, new services, geographic offices, technology, data analytics, and AI. Following the investment, WebFX planned to create 300 additional jobs over the next 5 years. WebFX had an admirable history of hiring people at entry level, retaining and developing them over a long period of time and fostering their progression to more senior positions in the company. As part of the plan for the next phase of growth however, they looked to bring in a senior external hire who could lead Business Development efforts.
Reporting directly to the CEO & Founder, this role will be focused on developing relationships with Investment Professionals at Strategic PE firms, getting to know relevant portfolio companies and selling WebFX’s value-add services.
Requirements
Given the focus of the role in building and developing relationships with PE firms, finding a candidate with a strong existing network in the ecosystem was critical. Investment professionals are often inundated with requests from service providers, and someone who could bring credibility with this group to WebFX would help accelerate the growth in this channel. As the first external hire that would be establishing a new function, formalizing a new route to market for the business, we needed someone comfortable operating in a hands on fashion, able to originate process and to bring the energy to their approach. With the culture at WebFX having been carefully cultivated since the mid 90s, we sought an adaptable person who suited an ethos and environment that offers opportunities for people to continually learn, improve and progress.
Result
Erevena helped WebFX to hire Morgan Murphy to lead Business Development. Morgan joined from her role as Director of Account Management with BluWave, a networking firm that helps private equity firms connect with service providers across due diligence, value creation and sales preparation. At BluWave she helped to establish relationships with new PE firms as well as manage their existing base. Previously Morgan served in multiple client facing roles at Gartner and Mitratech, after graduating from Indiana University Bloomington.
