Search Background
Thredd first engaged with Erevena around multiple key hires at C-Suite level and held detailed discussions to agree upon the sequencing and search strategy behind each. We agreed that the business case for the Chief Product Officer search was the highest priority and began our engagement on this search.
Thredd were looking for a Chief Product Officer who could take responsibility for full-stack product roadmap and execution. The founding team had been the custodians of product vision and the business had grown significantly since this was established and recently taken growth capital investment from Dunedin (Private Equity), but the Product function was still relatively nascent. The incoming CPO would assume responsibility for building scalable product methodology into the business, as well as rapidly prioritising a set of products which would help the business achieve its ambitious international expansion targets. It was crucial this was executed against with the Dunedin investment thesis and timeline in mind.
Requirements
Thredd were looking for a best in class Product leader in Payments, who could help bridge the gap between commercial and technology which was left by the Founders transitioning out of the business. The incoming CPO needed a strong balance of technical depth, as the core product focus was around GPS’ issuer processing platform, with the commercial acumen to prioritize product opportunities in international markets. It was important that the CPO had previously worked in a growth environment similar to the rate of expansion at Thredd, as the prioritization of the roadmap at this phase of growth would play a key role in achieving revenue targets.
Result
Shaun Puckrin was placed from Nested (Series C, Balderton/Northzone). He joined Nested to run Product & Engineering, after a successful 6-year period in at Worldpay, as Product Director for their mPos Product, before progressing to lead Product for the UK business through their IPO. He has 20 years’ experience in payments, mobile and fintech, and has managed engineering teams throughout several of his product leadership roles, giving him a strong blend of the required technical and commercial skills.
