Virtuo is a tech company that redefines the future of car rental and car ownership all together.  HQ’d in Paris, with offices in London, Barcelona and Milan, the service is growing rapidly. Founded in 2016 they are now over 150 people having raised a total of over $130M from tier 1 VCs. Their mission is to create a uniquely digitally driven car experience that will not only redefine the car rental industry ($80B) but transform our relationship with cars entirely.

Search Background

Virtuo were growing at a rapid pace and needed a COO to own all operations in an operationally complex business. The COO would also lead the scale-up of existing markets as well as the build-out of new operations internationally. They would manage all fleet operations and also lead customer support and could be based anywhere in Europe where Virtuo operate.

Requirements

The successful candidate needed to have extensive experience of leading complex operations with a significant understanding of how to manage supply and demand dynamics. The ideal candidate would have managed multiple P&Ls internationally and acted as a leader for country GMs in multiple markets. They would bring experience in fast-growth environments and would work closely with the executive team and the Board as a sparring partner.

Result

Erevena identified and introduced Nina Holmes to Virtuo. Nina spent over six years in Jumia Food and Jumia On-Demand Services in operational roles. Initially leading operations for Kenya, Nina quickly grew to be the MD of their business in Tanzania and ultimately head of operations for Jumia Food across the continent. She spent her final two years in Jumia as COO for the On-Demand and Delivery businesses. She then spent just under two years with the rapidly growing quick commerce startup Zapp as VP Supply Chain.
