Founded in 2014 by Nik Whitfield, Panaseer has raised over $15m in seed and venture funding from the likes of Evolution Equity Partners, Albion VC, Notion Capital, Paladin Capital Group and Cisco Investments.
Search Background
Nik had led the business admirably over the first six years of the company’s lifecycle, developing a market-leading product, establishing strong product-market-fit in a new category of cybersecurity and building an enviable set of customer case studies. However, as the company had reached the size, shape and trajectory, the time was right to bring in a new leader to drive international customer and revenue growth. Both Nik and the board felt that the time was right to hire a commercial CEO who could lead Panaseer through the next phase of their growth journey, whilst simultaneously freeing Nik up to focus on a new role as Chairman.
Requirements
Erevena was tasked with finding a strong, commercial GM who could create the operational infrastructure required to give Panaseer the organisational platform for continued growth and establish a go-to-market model that could capitalise on the amazing technology. It was agreed that this person should have a deep understanding of the cyber security landscape, a strong background in enterprise (SaaS) sales and leadership experience across EMEA and the USA.
Result
After an extensive search, we were delighted that Jonathan Gill agreed to join as Chief Executive Officer in January 2021. With over 20 years of experience in cybersecurity, his deep experience of building world class go-to-market teams across Europe and the USA for the likes of RSA Security and Veracode, was deemed an excellent fit. Jonathan has run triple-digit $M businesses but is also well-versed in scaling operations from an early base. This combination sets him up well to lead the charge at Panaseer for many years to come.
